A validated business process modelling success factors model

Purpose Business process modelling (BPMo) projects are core to digital transformation as they provide the conceptual foundation orchestration of technologies along a process. Yet, success factors BPMo have received little research attention date. This study empirically validates project model, pointing normative practice guidelines and important future research. Design/methodology/approach reports on quantitative re-specification validation business employing survey responses from 261 modellers worldwide. Findings The distilled validated final set antecedents: Top Management Support, Project Capabilities, Stakeholder Input, Modeller Expertise Modelling Tool Usage; clearly evidences their relationships with each other two moderating variables – Importance Complexity. paper offers nuanced explanation indirect role top management support in building stakeholder involvement explains how complex that perceived being more likely attract high levels necessary involvement. authors conclude needs create an environment co-ordinated excellence which spans both technical skills resources, level committed engagement between stakeholders technicians order for succeed.
